Medical Marijuana, Medical Necessity, Change is Coming

I’m writing this from the perspective of a person, who as a teenager used marijuana as a recreational drug, filling those long days of summer, to a person who in later years went back to medical marijuana for pain relief. This from a job which required random drug tests since the law has been on the books.  It’s high time we as a civilization realize the benefits this plant has to offer our friends and loved ones.  Now don’t get me wrong, this isn’t a cure all drug, and by far it won’t get your body back to the way it once was.  What it does do is, it gives you as a patient (or really anyone), the ability to do things you may not other wise do, why, because it allows your mind to focus on something other than the pain you live with daily.

I am also a voter who believes that marijuana is something that should be sold to adults, the same way alcohol, and cigarettes are sold.  I know this is a big step that many people have a hard time with.  But it’s my belief that it’s time to pay attention to what the people want, especially when it’s something that is relatively harmless.  I know that is a very controversial statement, but one I do believe. 

How many people have been killed as a result of marijuana?  You know if you read the statistics on this you will probably see something like Zero, it’s my thoughts that while it may not have caused death, like many things in life it’s been a contributing factor in many I’m sure.  If I were to guess though I would have to say most, if any would have been from someone falling asleep while driving or something like that.  Sorry I don’t have any statistics on this.

We are coming to a point and time in our Nation, and our worlds' time, that something, while we may or may not agree with, sometimes we must realize that the time has come to make the bold step.  It’s time to step back and survey what past history has done for this fight.

1.  It has filled up, and created many new prisons around the world.  Not near enough for all the people we have who definitely need to be in prison.      Yet we will fill them with people who have small amounts of marijuana for their personal use.

2.  Just from the Law Makers from the United States, the amounts of money to fight just marijuana is way in the billons of dollars.

3.  Lives that have been ruined by the criminal record that is attached to someone who has been arrested for small amounts of marijuana.

It’s time we as a Nation stop throwing money towards wars we can’t stop.

I say it time we stop throwing millions, if not billions at something that can be regulated, and kept from children just like alcohol and cigarettes.

It’s time the government instead of throwing money away to fight this legalize this and make some much need tax revenue of the sales.

It is time Folks Lets wake up and save money, and lives.
